چکیده

In this paper, we present a new non-parametric generalized formulation to statistical pressure snakes. We discuss the shortcomings of the traditional pressure snakes. We then introduce a new generic pressure model that alleviates these shortcomings, based on the Bayesian decision theory. Non-parametric techniques are used to obtain the statistical models that drive the snake. We discuss the advantages of using the proposed non-parametric model compared to other parametric techniques. Multi-colored-target tracking is used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. Experimental results show enhanced, real-time performance.

Dual Active Contour Models for Medical Image Segmentation

Deformable Models, which includes the popular snake models (Kass et al., 1988) and deformable surfaces (McInerney & Terzopoulos, 1996; Suri & Editors, 2006), are well known techniques for boundary extraction and tracking in 2D/3D images. Basically, these models can be classified into three categories: parametric, geodesic snakes and implicit models. The relationships between these models have b...

Facial Features Segmentation by Model

Deformable models have recently been accepted as a standard technique to segment diierent features in facial images. Despite they give a good approximation of the salient features in a facial image, the resulting shapes of the segmentation process seem somewhat artiicial with respect to the natural feature shapes. In this paper we show that active contour models (in particular, rubber snakes) g...

Active Deformable Models Using Density Estimation

This paper introduces a new approach to active deformable models. The paper starts with a brief review of the relevant approaches. We then use the Expectation Maximization and Parzen Window techniques to develop a more robust formulation for pressure snakes. The generic nature of the proposed model allows it to perform well on complex colored images. We show, by several examples, the enhanced p...

Generating Discriminating Cartoon Faces Using Interacting Snakes

As a computational bridge between the high-level a priori knowledge of object shape and the low-level image data, active contours (or snakes) are useful models for the extraction of deformable objects. We propose an approach for manipulating multiple snakes iteratively, called interacting snakes, that minimizes the attraction energy functionals on both contours and enclosed regions of individua...
